Am 18. Januar 2017 war klar, Obama hat eine Begnadigung der 72jährigen indianischen politischen Gefangenen, der nunmehr seit 41 Jahren in Haft und schwer erkrankt ist, abgelehnt. Gegen diese Ablehnung ist kein Einspruch möglich, der nächste Begnadigungsantrag könne erst in 5 Jahren gestellt werden. Wir sind über diese Entscheidung nicht nur bestürzt und traurig, wir sind hierüber auch wütend und zornig, kommt diese doch einem Todesurteil Peltiers gleich. Man lässt diesen Gefangenen, gegen den tatsächlich keine Tatbeweise vorliegen, im Hochsicherheitsgefängnis sterben.
