Doyle Hamm, er ist jetzt 61 Jahre alt und sitzt seit 1987 im Todestrakt von Alabama, weil er einen Menschen getötet hat. 2014 wurde bei Ihm Krebs diagnostiziert und er erhielt medizinische Behandlung gegen den Krebs. Er leidet auch an kranialen und lymphatischen Krebserkrankungen was den Zugang zu Venen erheblich erschwert. Im September 2017, wurde Doyle Hamm von einem Arzt untersucht um herauszufinden ob überhaupt, zugängliche Venen existierten um den tödlichen Drogencocktail injizieren zu können. Der Arzt stellte fest, dass aufgrund seiner Krankheit und seines vorherigen intravenösen Drogenkonsums unwahrscheinlich sei, eine geeignete Vene zu finden. Diese Situation kann zu verpfuschten Hinrichtungen führen, was extrem traumatische Folgen haben kann, insbesondere für Angehörige.
Trotz diesem Attest von einem Arzt und dem Wissen, dass es kaum eine Chance geben wird, die Nadel setzen zu können wurde ein Hinrichtungstermin gegeben. Statt aber pünktlich (22.02., 6 p.m.) zu starten mit dem Prozedere, wurde ein temporärer Stopp gegeben um diesen ca. drei Stunden (22.02., 8:55 p.m.) später wieder aufzuheben und das Prozedere zu starten. Stunden später (23.02., 1:25 a.m.) wurde dann verkündet, dass die Hinrichtung abgebrochen wurde, da kein Venenzugang gefunden werden konnte.
Was für eine Folter, was für eine Tortur und das nicht nur für Ihn, sondern auch für alle die Beteiligt waren, besonders für die Angehörigen und Freunde. Es wird nun aber ein Nachspiel haben, der ganze Ablauf wird überprüft werden und Doyle Hamm erhält von einem Professor einen ganzheitlichen Gesundheitscheck. Es ist doch kaum zu fassen, was Menschen anderen Menschen zufügen können! Es ist unglaublich, diese emotionale Belastung die allen Beteiligten aufgebürdet wird, einfach weil das System es so vorsieht.
Und Alabama lässt sich nicht unter kriegen, sie suchten nach neuen Hinrichtungsalternativen und haben nun die Anwendung von Stickstoffgas zur weiteren Prüfung erlaubt. Dies im Hinblick falls die tödlichen Hinrichtungsdrogen nicht mehr verfügbar wären oder als Verfassungswidrig erklärt würden oder eben in einem gesundheitlichen Notfall, wenn die Venen derart defekt sind, dass die Injektionsnadel nicht gesetzt werden kann. Es gibt lediglich wissenschaftliche Dokumentationen zu der Wirkung von Stickstoffgas, effektiv, weiss niemand ganz genau, wie das sterben sein wird, da es noch nie an einem Menschen getestet wurde, was ja klar ist, da dieser Test nur mit dem Tod enden kann, allerdings - wie - ist unklar.
Es kommen nun immer mehr Details über diese katastrophale und barbarische Prozedur an das Tageslicht. Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass sie Ihm die Blase anstachen, da er am anderen Tag Blut urinierte und es kann sein, dass eine Oberschenkelarterie getroffen haben, weil plötzlich viel Blut herausströmte. Er hat, festgeschnallt auf der Bare, vor Schmerzen geweint, gebetet, dass es dem Personal gelingt eine Vene zu finden, dass er einfach sterben kann.
